Meet Kyleigh
Camp SPEAK’s 2024 Ambassador
My name is Kyleigh. I had a dog named Daisy and now have two cats named Mist and Bobkitty. I am 22 years old and I graduated from Hebron Christian Academy. My hobbies are art, playing Sims and helping people to know how devices work. I am a runner and have run lots of marathons with the Kyle Pease Foundation. I have a boyfriend and he is amazing! and I am excited to go to a concert with him soon. We are going to see Luke Bryan! I use my device well now but it was a journey. My mom and dad never gave up on me learning to talk with my device. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and talking to ya’ll soon.
Camp SPEAK is an adapted overnight camp designed to support children and their families who use communication devices while providing speech language graduate students the opportunity to experience supporting students who use AAC. The Camp will provide attendees accessible sports, art, and fun in a language and literacy rich environment as well as provide educational workshops by venders and professionals to parents while they develop friendships and make connections with other families. Join us for presentations, vendor sign ups, classes, activities, meals, fun time and more! Learn more a bout camp in our camper guide.
Camp SPEAK is a very interactive experince for all involved. There are many fun things to do and many amazing memories to make. You can use our scrap book to take home and keep with those memories forever. Download our scrapbook to learn more about these activities and provide your camper with a fun way to document and remember their experience at camp!
Camp SPEAK provides fun and learning for all participants, family members, and students. While participants and their siblings enjoy activities from crafts to ziplining, parents can relax, explore the property and/or connect with other families and vendors to learn about ACC equipment and usage. Download our picture book to learn more about these activities and provide your camper with a fun way to document and remember their experience at camp!
At Camp SPEAK, each child will be paired with a Speech Language Pathologist graduate student and experience 4 days of adapted activities under supervision of some of the best therapists in the State! While the kids are having a great time parents will have opportunities to connect, receive individual attention from venders, or attend in-services and training. Camp SPEAK is a collaborative effort involving organizations such as Atlanta Neurogenic Institute, Tools for Life, University of Georgia, and Georgia State. We all have something to say.
Come camp, communicate and create connections with us.
Camp Twin Lakes’ flagship campus in Rutledge, Georgia, first opened its doors to campers in 1993, partnering with 10 nonprofit organizations to serve 1,000 children in our first summer. From that time, our programs and partnerships have grown exponentially. Today, we serve thousands of campers through weeklong summer camps and weekend programs at our fully-accessible facility.
Make a donation.
Camp SPEAK includes lodging, meals, activities, classes, a vendor showroom, medical support and many other things to ensure campers have a fun, engaging experience. If you have the means, please consider donating to help with these expenses.
